Simple Steps for Houseplant Propagation
The first day of summer this year is June 21st! Welcome the summertime with a home filled with lush green plants. Today we will be talking about the steps to take while propagating your house plant! Propagating is a great idea if you have a species of plan t that you want to increase in number and regrow. Check out the steps below.
- Choose your healthy plant parent. Make sure the plant is mature and vibrant.
- Choose your method of propagation (either water or soil depending on the plant) select stem cutting and make a clean cut just below the leaf node. remove any lower leaves, leaving only a few at the top.
- Plant the cuttings: Place the leaf-cutting in a container filled with either your water or well-draining soil. Ensure the plant is inserted deep enough to provide stability.
- Monitor and water cuttings, check for signs of growth, and remove any unhealthy or decayed cuttings. Propagation can take several weeks or even months.
Once you feel your cutting has enough growth, cuttings can be repotted in well-draining soil in a slightly larger container with drainage holes. Then water as usual. Our Peatmoss soil is a great option for repotting house plants! Feel free to reach out for any gardening or soil inquiries.
