- Tape measure
- Square or level
- Weed barrier fabric (optional)

Step-by-Step Instructions
(Easiest Two-Person Method)
Step 1: Choose Your Location
- Pick a flat, sunny area (at least 6–8 hours of sunlight daily).
- Avoid areas with poor drainage or lots of tree roots.
Step 2: Lay Out Your Materials
- Place all 4 boards on the ground.
- Set up in a rectangle (e.g. 4'x8' is a common size).
Step 3: Pre-Drill Your Screw Holes
- Have Person A hold one corner tightly in place.
- Person B drills two pilot holes per corner (one near the top, one near the bottom).
Step 4: Assemble the Bed
- With both people working together, screw the boards into place at each corner.
- Use a level or square to keep everything even.
Step 5: Optional – Lay Weed Barrier
- Lay down weed barrier fabric inside the frame to help prevent weeds.
- Staple it to the inside edge if desired.
Step 6: Position the Bed & Level It
- Move the assembled frame into final position.
- Use a shovel to level the ground if needed.
Step 7: Fill with Soil
- Mix high-quality garden soil with compost or organic amendments.
- Fill the bed to within 1–2 inches from the top.
Step 8: Water & Plant
- Lightly water the soil to help it settle.
- Begin planting your seeds or seedlings right away!
Tips for Success
Use cedar or redwood for durability (they’re naturally rot-resistant).
Keep the bed height between 10"–12" for vegetables or herbs.
Add mulch on top to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
